Meet women in steam who inspire - september 2021 edition

Women in STEAM (science, tech, engineering, arts, math and medicine) are rocking it in the world today, doing excellent but often under-promoted work. We want more people to know about these women and their work, including girls who might dream of careers in STEAM fields! We’ve partnered with 500 Women Scientists to feature women and gender diverse folks from their Gage search platform in a unique Lifeology card series, which we’ve now updated for September here!

Dana Bolles Illustration

Dana Bolles is featured in our Gage Scientists Who Inspire deck. She is a web manager of a science website for a federal agency. She is also a member of the Gage search platform

As an advocate for disability, women, and LGBTQ in STEAM, Dana volunteers for employee resource groups. She is also an AAAS IF/THEN Ambassador, serving as a STEM role model for middle school girls.

Dana has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, and now she manages the day to day operations of a science website. Their goal is to reach the widest possible audience about their science. Currently residing in Norwalk, California, Dana lives with her partner and their cats.

“You always hear about how women need a seat at the table,” Bolles says. “For those of us in wheelchairs, sometimes we can’t even get to the table because there are stairs to the room.” – AAAS IF/THEN Ambassador spotlight
